Happy Tuesday, friend! Sometimes we think about the fact that we made it through an entire school day without a cell phone and honestly...how? You couldn't text your mom because you forgot your lunch. You couldn't check where your friends were between classes. And if there was drama happening somewhere in the building, you had to wait until lunch like a civilized human to get the full story. We really were out there operating on rumors, locker meetups, and whatever information made it down the hallway by third period. Anyway, we've got plenty to catch you up on this week, and thankfully, you don't have to wait until lunch to hear it. Last week we covered Lauren McCluskey Parts 1 and 2, if you missed them you can listen here! As always, members of the Patreon will receive Parts 1 and 2 on Tuesday. If you're not a Patron yet, don't worry! You'll still get Part 2 this week with Part 1 dropping on Tuesday, and Part 2 arriving on Thursday. Feeling some FOMO and want Part 2 instantly? We hear ya! You can become a Patron here! Hi reply and let us know, are you enjoying the 2-part shows each week! Don't forget to make sure you're subscribed to our YouTube Channel! We will have Tupac's Murder and The Keefy D Trial dropping on YouTube this Thursday - you don't want to miss it! Subscribe and watch here! While you're checking out YT, visit Tyrella's channel, Tyrella Off Record to watch her latest videos on the Karmelo Anthony, Lindsay Clancy, and Nolan Wells cases/trials. Are you in any true crime groups on Facebook?! Or follow Reddit threads on true crime? Make sure to link to This Feels Criminal and invite more friends to join us…because we all know it’s more fun over here! 😘 Currently on Tyrella Off RecordLately, there has been a LOT to keep up with, with all the cases and trial ongoing. The Lindsay Clancy trial is still front and center, with Tyrella following the testimony and breaking down the biggest developments coming out of the courtroom. But that's not the only case moving. There have also been new developments in the Karmelo Anthony case, and Tyrella is following those updates as they come in, too. That's exactly what Tyrella Off Record is for. The cases everyone's talking about rarely stay still, and you shouldn't have to piece together five different headlines and a TikTok comment section to figure out what actually happened. Whether you prefer longer breakdowns on YouTube, quick updates on Instagram or TikTok, listening podcast-style, or getting The Record Briefing in your inbox each week, Tyrella meets you wherever you like to keep up. No racing to conclusions. Just following the evidence, sorting fact from speculation, and making sense of the developments that actually matter. However you like to stay in the loop, Tyrella Off Record has you covered.
The Lost Art of Passing NotesBefore texting, Snapchat, and disappearing messages, we had a much riskier communication system: Passing folded notes in class. And these weren't just pieces of paper. We had ✨techniques✨ There was the basic square. The complicated triangle. And that tiny little folded masterpiece that somehow tucked into itself and required an engineering degree to open. Inside? Pure middle school journalism. "Do you like him?" "Did you see what she wore today?" "Meet me by my locker after 4th period." And, of course, the occasional: Do you like me? Then we'd write "DO NOT READ!!!" or "4 UR 👀 ONLY" across the outside, which was apparently our generation's version of end-to-end encryption. The real danger was handing it to someone three desks away and trusting every single person along the route not to open it. Kids today can delete a text or send a "disappearing" Snap, but us? What a time to be alive. Your Turn to Pick the CaseYou know that one story you wish more people were talking about? Yeah… we want that one. Send us your case suggestions and you might hear it featured in a future episode. Thanks for letting us stop by your inbox, catch you up on the cases we're following, and occasionally remind you of something from middle school you hadn't thought about in 20+ years. We'll be back next Tuesday with more true crime, more updates, and another little trip down memory lane. Until then... Just remember, if this were 1998, we'd have to fold this entire email into a tiny triangle and trust someone in third period to get it to you. |
Most newsletters are… fine. Ours is where the fun continues after the episode ends. When you join the This Feels Criminal newsletter, you’ll get the stories, updates, and behind-the-scenes moments we can’t always fit into the podcast, delivered straight to your inbox. Think of it as the after-hours version of the show.
We're officially at that point in October where Halloween candy has been in the house for two weeks, the decorations are either fully up or still sitting in a storage bin, and every trip to Target somehow ends with something pumpkin-shaped in the cart. We'd love to say we're exercising some self-control, but there's a pretty good chance the candy we bought for trick-or-treaters is going to need replacing before October 31. And speaking of Halloween, we've been thinking about how much fun this...
We have officially entered the part of the year where every morning requires a small investigation before getting dressed. It's chilly when you wake up, somehow 78 degrees by lunch, and by the time you figure out whether you need a sweater, the weather has changed its mind again. Welcome to October. 🍂 We're settling into spooky season over here, which means the Halloween decorations are coming out, we're pretending buying another seasonal candle is a completely reasonable financial decision,...
Is anyone else at the point in the year where every week feels like it lasts approximately three days? You blink, it's Monday. You answer a few emails, suddenly it's Thursday. Then somehow you're standing in the kitchen on Sunday night wondering what exactly happened to the weekend. So we're officially giving you permission to ignore whatever you're supposed to be doing for a few minutes and hang out with us instead. Last week we covered Reckless Ben & The Lego Saga Parts 1 and 2, if you...
