The Death of the Pastor's Wife

We've reached the age where stores have apparently realized the fastest way to get Millennials to spend money is to put something from 1999 in front of us and say, "Remember this?"

And unfortunately for our wallets...it's working.

Give us the snacks we ate after school, the clothes we begged our moms for, or anything that once appeared in our childhood bedrooms, and suddenly we're standing in Target having an emotional experience we did not plan for.

This week, one particular comeback got us GOOD.

We'll get to that in our Millennial Flashback, but first, grab your coffee because we've got plenty to catch up on.

Last week we covered Lindsay Clancy Trial Recap Parts 1 and 2, if you missed them you can listen here!

And last week Patreon Members received Survivor: Lisa McVey on Murder Mixtape and Worst Neighbor Ever Part 2 on DocJams. Catch up on those or join the Patreon here!

As always, Patrons will receive parts 1 and 2 of the weekly release on Tuesday.

If you're feeling a little FOMO and want part 2 immediately, you can check out the Patreon here!

Currently on Tyrella Off Record

Lately, there has been a LOT to keep up with, with all the cases and trial ongoing.

That's exactly what Tyrella Off Record is for. The cases everyone's talking about rarely stay still, and you shouldn't have to piece together five different headlines and a TikTok comment section to figure out what actually happened.

Whether you prefer longer breakdowns on YouTube, quick updates on Instagram or TikTok, listening podcast-style, or getting The Record Briefing in your inbox each week, Tyrella meets you wherever you like to keep up.

No racing to conclusions. Just following the evidence, sorting fact from speculation, and making sense of the developments that actually matter.

However you like to stay in the loop, Tyrella Off Record has you covered.

The dELiA*s Catalog

Before Pinterest boards, saved Instagram posts, and adding 47 things to your online cart that you have absolutely no intention of buying...

We had the dELiA*s catalog.

And when that thing showed up in the mail?

Plans were canceled because we were now busy.

You'd grab a pen, curl up on your bed, and start circling your future wardrobe like your parents had suddenly given you an unlimited clothing budget.

Platform shoes.

Tiny graphic tees.

Cargo pants.

Striped sweaters.

Butterfly everything.

And approximately 14 outfits that would completely transform your life if your mom would JUST let you order them.

You'd circle an entire page and maybe put a little star next to the things you really wanted, because apparently we thought our parents needed help distinguishing between the $38 pants we wanted and the $42 pants we really wanted.

Then came the hardest part.

Actually asking for something.

"Mooooom... can I show you something?"

Which was usually followed by: "You do not need another shirt."

She didn't understand. This wasn't another shirt.

This was going to make you the person you were meant to be.

And here's the part that sent us straight back to 1999:

dELiA*s is officially back at Target.

Yep. There are baby tees, plaid pants, cargo pants, corduroy, chokers, butterfly graphics and all kinds of things that look suspiciously like something we would've circled 25 years ago.

But the best part?

THEY BROUGHT BACK THE CATALOG.

Which means somewhere out there, a new generation gets to experience the joy of looking through a paper catalog and deciding who they're going to become based entirely on a pair of pants.

Meanwhile, the Millennials will be at Target whispering:

"Wait... I literally had that."

Your Turn to Pick the Case

You know that one story you wish more people were talking about?

Yeah… we want that one.

Send us your case suggestions and you might hear it featured in a future episode.

Thanks for taking another completely unnecessary trip back to 1999 with us.

We'll be back Tuesday with more true crime and probably another memory we haven't thought about in 25 years.

Until then, if you see us at Target circling things in the dELiA*s section like our moms are about to buy them for us...mind your business.

Dissecting the cases everyone's talking about.

We're officially at that point in October where Halloween candy has been in the house for two weeks, the decorations are either fully up or still sitting in a storage bin, and every trip to Target somehow ends with something pumpkin-shaped in the cart. We'd love to say we're exercising some self-control, but there's a pretty good chance the candy we bought for trick-or-treaters is going to need replacing before October 31. And speaking of Halloween, we've been thinking about how much fun this...

We have officially entered the part of the year where every morning requires a small investigation before getting dressed. It's chilly when you wake up, somehow 78 degrees by lunch, and by the time you figure out whether you need a sweater, the weather has changed its mind again. Welcome to October. 🍂 We're settling into spooky season over here, which means the Halloween decorations are coming out, we're pretending buying another seasonal candle is a completely reasonable financial decision,...

Is anyone else at the point in the year where every week feels like it lasts approximately three days? You blink, it's Monday. You answer a few emails, suddenly it's Thursday. Then somehow you're standing in the kitchen on Sunday night wondering what exactly happened to the weekend. So we're officially giving you permission to ignore whatever you're supposed to be doing for a few minutes and hang out with us instead. Last week we covered Reckless Ben & The Lego Saga Parts 1 and 2, if you...
