This week's case is one a lot of you have been asking about since Hulu's new documentary dropped, so we're getting right to it. This week: Swipe Right on the Devil On November 15, 2017, 24-year-old Sydney Loofe sent her friends a Snapchat: "Ready for my date." She'd met a woman on Tinder named Audrey. Her friends had seen her picture. The next morning, Sydney didn't show up for work. Her car, her purse, and her cat were all still at home. And the woman she'd gone to meet wasn't named Audrey. Sydney's friends and family refused to stop looking. What they helped uncover was bigger than one bad date: fake identities, an older man who claimed supernatural powers, and other young women who'd been told they could join his "coven." We're breaking down Hulu's Swipe Right on the Devil, plus the court-record details the documentary leaves out. Content note: this case involves murder and abuse. We keep the graphic details to a minimum.

Make sure to link to This Feels Criminal and invite more friends to join us…because we all know it’s more fun over here! 😘 Are You Afraid of the Dark? After this week's episodes, we need to talk about something lighter. Something like… being terrified by Nickelodeon. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, we call this one The Tale of Why We Slept With the Hall Light On. Every Saturday night, we'd settle in for SNICK. Somehow the same network that gave us Rugrats also thought it was a great idea to show us a group of teenagers telling ghost stories around a campfire. That opening sequence alone had us reconsidering our choices. Then someone would toss the magic dust into the fire, announce the night's tale, and we were locked in. We spent entire episodes peeking out from behind a pillow. We swore we weren't scared when our parents walked in. Then we made a sibling come with us to the kitchen. Looking back, we probably should've seen the true crime thing coming. We grew up gathering around for creepy stories and trying to figure out who the bad guy was. Hit reply and tell us: which episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? still lives rent-free in your head? TL; DRSkipped to the bottom? No judgement. here's the skinny:

How are we this far into October?! We've been feeling especially nostalgic this week, thinking about how exciting Halloween used to be when we were little. Back when you could wear your costume to school, spend half the day eating cupcakes, and somehow still have enough energy to go trick-or-treating that night. We have some very specific memories to unpack in this week's Millennial Flashback, and we need your opinion on one of the most important debates of our elementary school years. But...
We're officially at that point in October where Halloween candy has been in the house for two weeks, the decorations are either fully up or still sitting in a storage bin, and every trip to Target somehow ends with something pumpkin-shaped in the cart. We'd love to say we're exercising some self-control, but there's a pretty good chance the candy we bought for trick-or-treaters is going to need replacing before October 31. And speaking of Halloween, we've been thinking about how much fun this...
We have officially entered the part of the year where every morning requires a small investigation before getting dressed. It's chilly when you wake up, somehow 78 degrees by lunch, and by the time you figure out whether you need a sweater, the weather has changed its mind again. Welcome to October. 🍂 We're settling into spooky season over here, which means the Halloween decorations are coming out, we're pretending buying another seasonal candle is a completely reasonable financial decision,...
